Final results for ten races plus the medal race at Mallorca, Spain.

First day report from the event:
The 42 Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mapfre, third event in the ISAF Sailing World Cup, started on Monday in Palma with gruelling conditions, sun and clear blue sky. The 49ers and Star races were delayed waiting for the wind to ease.

After a postponement, the Star fleet completed the two scheduled races in challenging conditions. Double Gold medallists and current World Champions, Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson (GBR) are making a successful come back to the competition after a long break with two bullets claimed in a fleet packed with medallists and world champions. The top five share a total of 15 Olympic medals including seven Golds collected in the Star and Finn classes. Second to fifth place are taken by Kusznierewicz and Zycki (POL), Scheidt and Prada (BRA), Grael and Ferreira (BRA) and Loof with Salminen (SWE.

Second day report:
The second day of racing in Palma offered tricky conditions with moderate and shifty winds. Today's races were sailed in opposite wind directions, with the remaining North-Easterly opening the day but replaced in the afternoon by the expected sea breeze. Conditions averaged 10 knots all day. Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Dominik Zycki (POL) won the first race and claimed the lead in the Star in front of Percy/Simpson (GBR) and Scheidt/Prada (BRA). The Italian team of Diego Negri and Enrico Voltolini (ITA) won the second race to place fifth overall.

Third day report:
The change of wind from the North-Easterly to the sea breeze that occurred early afternoon, created upsets in the racing schedule. The Star's fifth race was abandoned in the morning but was completed in the afternoon.

Fourth day report:
With light and shifty conditions today and two more races on Friday, the top ten places for the medal race are not a done deal yet. Olympic Gold medalists Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson (GBR) are increasing their lead in the Star class after winning a race. New faces are coming to the top with Andrew Campbell / Ian Coleman (USA) in second and Diego Negri / Enrico Voltolini (ITA) third.

"There was very little wind out there today, it was pretty hard going. We didn’t feel we got it right today, but somehow we seemed to still have a good day. We were not very lucky out on the course, but we fought back really hard and are pretty pleased to have extended our lead." says Percy.

Fifth day report: 2011 Trofeo Princesa Sofia MAPFRE title for Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson in the Star.
For Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson, the Medal race will be a formality! The Gold medallists have sailed to consistent results in a talented fleet and have acquired such a lead that they are assured of Gold in the event. "We’ve had a good week and things have gone well but it was kind of one of those times where things worked out and some of our rivals didn’t have good weeks. The result shows us to be a little bit further ahead than maybe we are, but still we’re really happy. It’s nice to win an event after such a long time away." explains Percy.

However, the fight will remain for the five following teams all eligible for a podium tomorrow. Diego Negri and Torben Grael's team have remained in second and third. It wasn't a dream day for Marazzi and de Maria (SUI) who took a penalty on the start of the day's first race and broke their mast in the second.

:
With victory going to Percy and Simpson (GBR) on the penultimate racing day, the battle on the Star medal race was for Silver and Bronze. Robert Stanjeck and Frithjof Kleen (GER) got to their best placing in the event to win second overall on equal points with Torben Grael /Marcelo Feirrera (BRA) and Diego Negri /Enrico Voltolini (ITA).
