Announcements
The 2007
championships still to be sailed this year are the North
American Championship in Vancouver, Canada, July 30-August 4
and the European
Championship on Lake Garda, Italy from September 7-14. The
list of entries
for the North Americans is published.

Two long
time members of the class recently passed away in the
USA - George Criminalie of Mobile Bay, Alabama, and Edith
Lippincott of the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland.
Star World Championship, Cascais, Portugal
2007 Star
Class World Champions are Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada
(BRA). They led the racing for all but the first day. They were
followed by three previous World Champions, Xaviar Roharrt/Pascal
Rambeau (FRA) in 2nd, Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson (GBR) in 3rd, and
Hamish Pepper and Carl Williams (NZL) in 4th. Eleven countries
qualified at the world championships to take part in the 2008 Olympics
in the Star Class. These are Brazil, France, Great Britain, New Zealand,
Italy, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Australia, Portugal, and the United
States. Another four countries will qualify at the Star Class 2008
Worlds, and China, the host nation, is an automatic entry.

Racing Results
In Finland, the 2007 District 10 Champions (Helsinki Regatta) are Joni Leeve and Asko Salminen, and they were also named the Open Finnish Champions. Kim Holm and Jesper Sundman won the HTPS Anniversary Regatta.
In Germany, the 2007
Beate Uhse Gedächtnispreis/Glücksburger Star Cup
was won by Philipp Rottermund and Tom Huber, Kiel
Week winners are Hans Spitzauer and Christian
Nehammer, the 70th
Warnemünder Week regatta was won by
Johanned Babendererde/Magnus Bothe. the 44th
Internationale Maibock Regatta winners are Fritz Werner and
Uli Seeberger, and Thomas Hopf/Florian Wahl won the 2007
Zugspitzpreis.
In Austria, Ronald Palleschitz/Gerhard Weinreich won the Falkenstein
Trophy and Franz Kloiber won the Graf Lodron Wanderpreis. In Swiitzerland, Thomas Moser and David Jeanneret won the Segelwoche at Thunersee. In the Netherlands, Sander Jorissen and Erik Veldhuizen were first at the Hollandia Trophy.
In Italy, the XLVIII
Trofeo Emilio Benetti was won by Diego Negri and Luigi Viale
and the winners of the VII
Trofeo Pietro Tobino are Adriano Mari and Filippo Tofani.
In Nice, France, Jacques and Jean Francois Puissegur won the Red Star and Jacques, sailing with Jean Gabriel Charton, also won the last regatta of the season in Nice, the CL Emoi.
On Canada's west coast, Britten/Snyder won
the 2007 Vancouver Island Fleet Championship and Foss Miller and Greg Newhall won the English Bay fleet's Waves regatta. In eastern Canada, Brain Cramer won the Lake Ontario fleet championship in Toronto, and John Finch won the Montreal Star Open.
On the US east coast, John MacCausland and Robert Schofield won the 64th Arms-White Regatta on Long Island Sound, and on the Chesapeake, Peter McChesney and Paul Amlong won the SSA Keelboat and John Manderson and Roman Gotsulyak won the J. Rulon Miller Series.
In Illinois, Tom Londrigan, Jr. and Matt Pederson won the 4th District Championship and in California, Jim Buckingham and Mike Dorgan won the Baxter Bowl.
