Announcements
All the continental championships for 2007 have now been sailed.
Latest champions are Flavio Marazzi and Enrico De Maria, winners of the
European Championship. The 2008 South American Championship will be early next year, followed by the 2008
Worlds in Miami, USA in April, and the Western Hemisphere Championship in Geneva, New York, USA on May 18-23.
The class office continues to have computer and Internet problems
following electrical issues in the Chicago area caused by heavy
rains and floods. This is scheduled to be fixed Sept. 17, but if you
have received no answer to your emails to the class office, please
resend them to be sure that they are received.
The Star Class will be represented at Hanseboot Show in Hamburg, Germany at the end of October.

Winning at 2007

Regatta in Qingdao, China, the 2nd trial regatta for China
just one year before the 2008 Olympics, were Robert Scheidt and Bruno
Prada (BRA) with Hamish Pepper and Carl Williams (NZL) second and
Xavier Rohart and Pascal Rambeau (FRA) third.. ,
2007 European Championship, Lago di Garda, Italy
The 2007 Europeans Champions
are Flavio Marazzi and Enrico de Maria (SUI), winning the final race
for a one point victory over both second place Fredrik Loof and Anders
Ekstrom (SWE) and third place Ian Percy and Steve Mitchell (GBR).

Racing Results
In Sweden, the grand prix series continued with Tom Lofstedt and Martin Larsson winning the 2007 GP
IV-SM Lidkoping.
In Switzerland, the 2007
9th District Championship was won by Beat and Daniel Stegmeier. The 2007
Basler Läggerli winners were Martin Ingold and Beat Stegmeier.
In Germany, the 2007
Zeller Cup champions were Hubert Merkelbach and Benedict Wenk. The Bahnwaerter
Preis 2007 was won by Michael Ilgenstein and Lutz Boguhn, and the overall winners of the 2007
Kronprinz Rupprecht von Bayern/STA Fleet Championship were Heiner Frowein and Tim Groemminger while Peter Forster/Stephan Wagner became the new StarnbergerSee fleet champions.

13th District Championship was sailed in Denmark and won by Matthias Miller and Manuel Voight.
The masters regatta of Austria, the 100-jährige
Star 2007, was won by Albert Sturm and Peter Moeckl and the
2007
Oesterreichische Staatsmeisterschaften (Austrian Championship) winners were Andreas Denk and Thomas Mueller.
Hungary's 2007
Spartacus Kupa regatta winners were Marton Gereben and Joka Gemesi.
France 2007
Dot's n' Dot's regatta in Nice was won by its sponsors, Fabrice and Isabelle Dot.
On the USA east coast, the 2007
Ned Hay winners were Tomas and Luis Hornos. And Tomas, on his 19th birthday, has just won the 2007 Snipe World Championship in Portugal with another Star sailor and past Snipe World champion, Augie Diaz, finishing in 4th place.
For the over 50 sailors, a light-air 2007
New England Masters had a winning team of William Swigart and Carroll McCallum. The 2007
Bedford Pitcher winners were Rick Merriman and Kevin Murphy, and a windy, mast breaking Nutmeg Regatta was won by Bear Hovey and Lee Dayton.
In Michigan, USA on the Great Lakes, Bob Teitge and Darren Jensen won the 4th
District Green Star/Michigan State Championship. In the USA Rocky Mountains, the Peak Seven Regatta winner was Paul Kresge.
In Los Angeles on the USA west coast, the 2007
Harris Series was the start of racing leading up to the US Olympic Trials in early October. Winning was Mark Mendelblatt.
In Vancouver, Canada, the 2007
English Bay Labour Day Classic winners were Craig Wilshire and Ian Scott while Tim Stamper and Simon Troop won the 2007
Vancouver Island Star Fall Cup in Victoria.
Brazil held the 2007
Regata Ninotchka and 2007
Regata Axel Von Lachmann at the end of August, both won by John King and Daniel Santiago.
