DISTICT 6 STAR CHAMPIONSHIP CORITHIAN YACHT CLUB OF SEATTLE AUGUST 5,6 2017 The forecast for Saturday was a light southerly in the morning shifting to a northerly later in the afternoon. And that’s exactly what happened. Two light air races were held in the morning. Then the fleet went ashore to have lunch and beer or two, and had one more race in the afternoon in a nice 12 knot northerly. Sunday came with a north 10 knot wind but also a very thick fog layer. Racing was postponed until 2pm and two solid races were sailed to complete the series. Olympic Silver medalist Brian Ledbetter and Olympic Gold medalists Magnus Liljedahl teamed up to win the 6th District Championship and gave the district fleet a clinic in Star racing, winning every race except the first light air race. A big thank you goes to the Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle for a great job of hosting the event and to Charley Rathkopt the PRO for excellent race committee work.
