I think it's only fitting to let the Star Class know what a fantastic job Andrew Parrish and the membership and staff of the Tred Avon Yacht Club did these last couple of weeks. From the time we arrived till the time we left Oxford, Maryland the volunteers and staff continued to make each day special. To start the club offered local housing to every competitor. Each and every day rain or shine an army of volunteers greeted us moved our boats with an expert tractor towing, helped launch each boat, and always with a smile and a what can we do to make your stay better. A group of volunteers made sure anyone who wanted to go view the racing was happily put on a spacious spectator boat at no charge. A small envy of club members privet boats to assist any boat in need plus on light air days a tow back to the dock. On the day before a possible high wind probability, the entire fleet had to be pulled from the water. OK, no big deal except mother nature decided to open the heavens above with a steady chilly rain. The volunteers never missed a beat, cold and wet they just grinned and kept on assisting however needed. The staff of TAYC could not have worked any harder. They arrived each day before dawn and left after the day's events were over. This even when we were visiting other locations for the evening. Again helpful and smiling. In my 50 plus years of sailing around the world, I have to say that the Tred Avon Yacht Club raised the bar to a level that I have ever seen. Almost forgot car parking. We all know that this is usually a hassle at events. The TAYC got the township of Oxford to allow the use of several parking lots, and with free shuttle bus service, it made parking easy. So Thank you Andrew and the members and staff of the Tred Avon Yacht Club for hosting the 2018 Star World Championship.
Welcome to the 2018 Star World Championship regatta, hosted by Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, Maryland, USA. The 2018 event will be spectacular with outstanding sailing in a fun and social venue, hosted by an experienced racing club. You have much to look forward to:
