Star Class Honoring the Past, Leading the Future
10 Stars arrived at Seneca Yacht Club this past weekend to sail the New York State Championship. Two new to star sailing skippers Travis Odenback and Steve Shaw joined the fleet. Always nice to see new faces.
Saturday bought a really nice southerly in the 10 to 12mph range. This is the perfect breeze for Seneca Lake, and it stayed for the entire day. We enjoyed three really nice races and then parked the boats in anticipation of the upcoming cook your own Rib Eye Steak cookout.
Sunday morning arrived with a 8 to 10 mph northwest breeze and bright sunshine. Two more races were sailed and when all said and done John MacCausland & Rodger Cheer took home the big trophy.
As has been the case the White/Burgess family's made sure there was ample amounts of hot dogs & burgers on Sunday. Of course the pour your own beer keg was available to all for the entire weekend .
It was one of the nicest weekend's of sailing on Seneca Lake I can remember, other than maybe a little warm temperature (30+ C) but the water temperature made up for that.
