ISCYRA 2006 for 2007 Resolutions
By Bill Allen, ISCYRA President
Sep 6, 2006, 10:44

The following two resolutions have been submitted for action at the 2006 annual meeting. Both have been approved by the Judicial Board. The first is a rewrite of an improperly worded resolution in 2005 concerning continental championships. It is very important that this be passed to complete the format changes voted in last year.

The second is more of a housekeeping detail.

--------------------------------

#1 - 2006 – submitted by the Annapolis Star Fleet
To amend Rule 27.2. The Continental Championship… as follows:

Rule 27.2. The Continental Championship shall consist of a minimum of six scheduled races. A race postponed, abandoned or incomplete will be rescheduled and resailed as soon as possible. There may be one reserve day for possible resails provided that such option is stated in the Notice of Race. Not more than two races shall be sailed on any one day. The race committee shall make every reasonable effort to complete six races within the published date (including reserve day if any). If it is not possible to complete four races, the series shall be canceled.

REASON: Star Class Rule 34 course format suggests number of races per day.

#2 – 2006 – submitted by the Lake Macquarie Star Fleet
To add Rules 28.4, 28.4.1 and 28.4.2. Entry Forms and Terms … as follows:

Rule 28.4. Minumum entries to a Fleet and District Championship.

28.4.1. Fleets with less than 8 active boats are not obligated to run a Fleet Championship.

28.4.2. Districts with less than 11 active boats are not obligated to run a District Championship.

REASON: The cost of running either a Fleet or District Championship for only a few boats is often not financially viable, resulting in a financial liability.
