I am very pleased to announce that the Class Management Committee has appointed three members to the Judiciary Board. The JB is responsible for interpreting our Class rules in specific situations, and for reviewing new resolutions for consistency with Class rules.

Joern Richter, of Hamburg, Germany, has been appointed a full member of the Judiciary Board. He has been an ISAF International Judge since 1996 and was an International Umpire from 1998 to 2006. He served as an international technical official for the Olympic test event in 2003 and at the Athens Olympics in 2004.

Martin Ingold, of Bern, Switzerland, has also been appointed as a full member of the JB. Ingold has been a member of the Star Class since 1991.

Joe Bainton
Joe Bainton, a lawyer from New York, New York and Stamford, Connecticut, was appointed as an alternate member to the Judiciary Board. He will become a full member in 2010, to serve a five year term.

Bainton has been a member of the Star Class since 1984 and has sailed in numerous World Championships in North America, South America and Europe as well as the Etchells Worlds in Freemantle, Australia. He was the first winner of the Zag Masters Trophy in Miami (2004) after having won the last Masters Trophy the year before.

In the Star class Bainton has served as the captain of the Narragansett Bay Fleet. His most memorable sailing adventure was crewing with his son for Dennis Conner on Cotton Blossom II in a classic yacht regatta in Antibes, France.

The full membership of the JB is:
Jack Lynch, Chairman (2010)
Ulrich Fischer (2009)
AJ Jakubowska (2011)
Joern Richter (2012)
Martin Ingold (2013)
Joseph Bainton (alternate)
