2009 83rd Lipton Cup/D2 Blue Star

This year the Tred Avon Yacht Club hosted the 2nd District Star Championships in conjunction with the annual Lipton Cup. Saturday, we waited on a light easterly breeze for about five hours. The race got underway late in the afternoon and Peter McChesney and Shane Zwingelberg led from start to finish. Second and third places were within about a boat length of first.

Sunday, we started early in hopes of completing sufficient races for a Blue Star as well as attending the gala awards ceremony at Harleigh. The breeze was up; around 10 – 15 out of the Southwest. John MacCausland and Kevin Murphy edged Peter McChesney and Shane Zwingelberg winning the tie breaker and receiving the Blue Star and Lipton Cup trophies. Laura Beigel and Read Beigel were awarded top novice.

The 2nd District Star Class thanks the regatta organizers of the Tred Avon Yacht Club for their work in hosting this event.
