The 2010 Lippincott Regatta ended up with better wind conditions than most people were probably expecting a day or so before the event. The fleet was comprised of many long time Star loyalists such as John Vanderhoff, Bert Collins, Elliot Oldak, John MacCausland, and Mr. Faithful Sam Hopkins. It was great to have long time Star sailor Steve Kling back out in addition to new comers Laura Beigel (kind of new comer, family legacy goes back to hull number 188) and Tom Doran.

Special thanks goes to Rob Emmet for coming out and supporting his club especially since he lost his main halyard before race one and was forced to sail back in.

Saturday conditions were sunny, wind speeds from 4-10 knots from the South to SW direction. Day one saw many lead changes and three races were completed. Johnny Mac/Kevin Murphy sat at the top of the scoreboard with Peter McChesney/Shane Zwingelberg in second by 2 points followed by Ben Fransen/Jim Pickering in third. Saturday night Annapolis Yacht Club provided a tasty sit down dinner.

On Sunday, we sailed out to the race course in a light easterly. The prediction had gotten better over night with a NE wind to fill in during the morning. The race committee was patient and the weather people were correct, the wind filled in nicely.

Race one started off in about 8-10 knots from the NE. Peter McChesney rounded the first mark in the lead with the fleet close and bunched up nicely. McChesney held on for the win with Johnny Mac in 5th now giving McChesney a 2 point lead going into the last race. For race 5 Johnny jumped into the lead pretty much from the start. McChesney was able to hold on to 2nd giving him a 1 point win over Johnny Mac.

Thank you Annapolis Yacht Club for hosting and running a very nice event. Thank you race committee for the two days of racing.
