2011 New York State Championship

23 boats from 4 different districts sailed the New York State Championships on Seneca Lake, New York this weekend. Saturday started with a nice southerly but as can and does happen here in the northeast it slowly faded. We got two of the three scheduled races in before calling it a day.

Back at the hoist the fleet was greeted with our usual open keg and soda, plus Rob Eberling's Rum Punch was offered to all. That night the fleet and friends enjoyed a steak dinner and fire works display at the home of Jan and Rick Burgess.

Sunday started one hour earlier and we were able to sail the final three races in light shifty winds but that's lake sailing. Back at the hoist the keg was reopened and Tom and Karen White cooked up burgers and dogs for all.

In the end it was Tomas Hornos/Kip Gardner first, Brian Cramer/Matt Johnston second and John MacCausland/Tod Raynor third.

Five races, good friends, great food and a little club that really enjoys hosting regattas, what a wonderful weekend.
