The District 6 Championship was held over a great Labour Day weekend with many competitors attending from all over the Pacific Northwest. Friday was scheduled as an arrival/training exercise day, with the likes of Ross Macdonald hosting some excellent training exercises and video for the day. This helped with getting the competitive juices flowing early for the following two days racing...

Saturday's racing brought perfect Star sailing conditions, 10 to 14 knots from the west and set the stage for three great races. Fred Dill with Mike Wurm set the pace early by winning race one but, it was Dave Watt and Dave Martin that would lead the pack for the remaining series. Having unmatched speed around the course left the remaining top two spots for the remaining fierce competing teams. The team of Fleckenstein/Mulder had a mast breakage during race 2 and left them out of remainder of Saturday's racing and ultimately out of the top three. Sunday's racing still had warm sunny skies but the breeze failed to build until much later. No team let their guard down in the much lighter 6 to 10 knot westerly. The teams Dill/Wurm, Wilson/Crilly, Miller/Frost battled out for places two, three and four respectively. All in all every team sailed great and most importantly had a great time during the whole weekend.

The Blue Star was claimed by none other than Dave Watt and Dave Martin, second place and top Master went to the team of Fred Dill and Mike Wurm. Third place went to Brett Wilson and Owen Crilly, who also claimed the Green Star. Next year's champioship is slated to take place in Seattle.
