| The Kaiser Kasabian Memorial Series was sailed from May 25 to September 11. The final races were under sunny skies and a warm 6-13knot SE Breeze. In remembrance of 9/11 and in response for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s decision to not include first responders at the 2011 September 11th Memorial Ceremony, Tony Herrmann and Chris and Mickey Neilson organized for all of the stars to display "FDNY" on their sails. This is the premier season series for the WLM fleet and is named after long time fleet member Kaiser Kasabian (http://starcham.nextmp.net/classic/artman/publish/article_373.shtml). Races are scheduled every Wednesday evening from late May to September and the finale is on the second Sunday in September. This year the series included 16 races. Going into the last day only a few points separated the top three boats. Chris and Mickey Nielson pulled away on the final day to take the season championship. |
