| Two glorious (albeit chilly) days of racing on Biscayne Bay. Saturday the breeze laid down to a shify 9-15 kts. Augie Diaz and Ian Coleman proved to be the best at patience, shifting gears and picking their way through the shifts and the fleet. Michael Hestbeck (DEN) with Claus Olesen and Luca Modena (ITA) with Gerd Miller had strong finishes in every race never letting Augie rest. The fleet was very close on the course at all times and even those toward the back were never very far off pace. Sunday the breeze was a little stronger and not quite as shifty. Freddy Loof (SWE) with Max Salminen came out to play, practicing for the upcoming Miami Olympic Classes Regatta. Ben Sternberg (USA) with Valentim Veytsman and Kevin McNeil (USA) with Arnis Baltins popped into the top ten on the last race just to mix things up a bit. All in all it was a great weekend to be a Star sailor on the water in Miami. Six countries were represented in 21 competitors. We hope to see everyone at the Walker Cup and the Zag Masters in February! Don't just think about it...get on it! |
