The New York State Championships were held this past week-end at Seneca Yacht Club in Geneva, NY. 14 boats from 3 different districts showed to contest the championship. There were three past Olympians in attendance, Brian Fatih sailing with Mike Phinney, Phil Trinter sailing with John MacCausland in his new out of the box Mader (8490), and Star Class Rear Commodore Larry Scott.

Saturday had three races in a nice southerly 8 to 14 and there were enough shifts to make it interesting but fair for all 14 boats. Saturday night was the traditional steak dinner and fire works hosted by Jan & Rick Burgess. A little touch and go this year as mother nature blessed us with a few showers, but all was taken in stride and copious amounts food was consumed by all.

Sunday started with a nice west south westerly and we did manage to get in a good race, but mother nature decided that was all there would be for wind and the fleet was towed back to the dock were we were treated to dogs and burgers cooked by the White family.
