30 Star boats sailed for the international Austrian championship on a holiday weekend in the "Falkenstein Trophy" on the Wolfgangsee. The prudent and competent acting race director, Wolfgang Buchinger, despite difficult wind for fair racing conditions, ultimately managed 8 races.

The rotary and mostly mild thermal winds, caused some sitting and waiting for race starts for the large audience of competitors. Albert Sturm sailed consistently with his bowman Tobias Haring, won 3 of the races, and secured his twelth Austrian Championship title! The battle for 2nd and 3rd, however, was exciting until the end. Local hero Gerald Feichtinger with bowman Peter Moche was only .5 points behind second placed Wolfgang Köchert / Michael Bergthaler after 6 races and had legitimate aspirations for the last two races. In the final battle, however, Köchert sailed strong, thus securing second place, while Feichtinger / Moche were unlucky and slipped to fifth with Christian Scheinecker / Gerhard Wallinger in third, and fourth, Gerhard Weinreich and Julia Seeger. Feichtinger / Moche could not be consoled with the title of the champion of Salzburg.
