2014 New York State Championship

Seneca Yacht Club hosted the annual New York State Championship (Open regatta to all). 19 Stars from far and wide came to this event. Day one of racing had a south wind of 7 - 10 knots, Day two the wind was west with 10- 15 knots.

With a competitive top third of the fleet, John MacCausland (2013 World Champ) and crew Kevin Murphy won with 12 points, and a three way tie for second, third and fourth place was won by Mark Passmore (2013 NYS Champ) then Anosov and Cramer.

Along with many of the usual faces, also there were several new faces both older and younger, as well as 4 ladies sailing, Leading Lady and Leading Youth was won by Abby White crewing for father Tom White.

A big, big thanks to the Burgess family for hosting their traditional Steak dinner Saturday night, and to Rob Eberling for Trophy preparation Bob Westcott for Breakfast and lastly White family for burgers and dogs lunch to send the sailors on there way back home!

Unbelievable weekend. Incredibly good weather, the usual wonderful friendship, close close racing. John Maccausland was first, Mark Passmore seecond, Arthur Anasov third and Brian Cramer fourth. Now let me tell you about tight racing. Three boats tied for second and after factoring in the tie breaker formula it was Mark coming out victorious. Brian and Cam sailed an amazingly consistent regatta scoring 4 third place finishes and ended up 4th. Also other ties and one point wins throughout the score sheet. Did I mention 19 boats sailed? Fabulous. S.LY.C. did its usual great job of social activities with "Rickyfest" at the Burgess's Saturday night, and a great after regatta BBQ at the club. Vadim and new crew Luke and Francis and I also sailed. Great winds, great weekend. Larry
