| Photos from the District 13 Championship can be found here What a fantastic weekend we all could enjoy! This is the place for Star boats to come. You go to a typical Danish harbor with one of the last havnevogt (chief of the harbor). There is a wonderful sailing area outside with a protected sea area like a bay. Most of the participants knew this part of the Baltic Sea from their holidays in the so called Danish south sea. The Danish Fleet with Flemming and Rune as the leading officers and their team hosted us with so much heart, that we will spread the news of this new spot and will return next year for the Henry Rasmussen Memorial Cup 2015. We had three days with sun and light wind and were able to sail 6 races. It started with the first two races on Friday. Flemming took the lead with the first place in the first race followed by Joergen and Heiko. These three were expected as the boats to pitch for the victory. In race 2 Flemming had some problems with his watch (so the race officer said) and he got his penalty. So the next boat joined the trio with Ulli Vater from Berlin making the first place followed by Heiko and the triple Danish champion in three classes in three weeks, Johnny Jensen. Friday evening we were invited to a sailor dinner in the club where a lot of talking, laughing and catching up with old and new friends took place. Three races on Saturday with a one hour delay , because of a lack of wind. In the third race Flemming was first and Lars Keilwitz showed up as second. Third place again for Heiko and Uwe. In the fourth race Johnny made it again with Lars as a second. The last race at that day went to Joergen followed by Rune. At this stage it was very close in the front with at least 4 teams to win the now famous “Blue Star” blazers. Late afternoon we jumped on an old vessel named Helge to ship us through the sound and the harbor of Svendborg with a concert of Axel’s 13 year old daughter. Flemming told us the history of Star boats in Denmark and the connection with the famous boat builder Henry Rasmussen, a son of Svendborg. Back in the clubhouse the shipyard of Abeking & Rasmussen was represented by Michael Hein and the granddaughter of Henry Rasumssen. They brought the new cup to the club for the new regatta in the next years. We heard some speeches from the granddaughter, our ISCYRA Commodore Dierk Thomsen and Rune as the secretary of the Danish Fleet. For Sunday there was no wind expected. The race committee tried in the very light conditions and in the end there were no races. Heiko Winkler and Uwe Thielemann win again after 2012 the 2014 District championship of the North Sea District. Congratulations! Followed by Flemming Soerensen with Niels Thrysoe Hansen and Ulli Vater and Karsten Morf as third. Thank you Troense. See you all and many more there in September 2015. |
