| Sailed on the Attersee, Austria. Magnificent sailing days on the Attersee! Local hero Christian Nehammer ( UYCAs ) and the German Reinhard Schmidt ( MYC ) fought to the last moment and ended at equal points with Schmidt taking first due to a higher number of first places. Seventeen teams competed in five races with all participants allowed to discard their worst single result so four races counted in the standings. After the German team of Reinhard Schmidt \ Niels Hentschel were the Olympian Christian Nehammer and Florian Urban in second. Third were the Germans Christian Pauksch with crew Christian Knoll. The victor of the Attersee Star boat fleet was also Christian Nehammer with Florian Urban. Second in the fleet rating were Christian Scheinecker with Michael Fischer, and third place went to Florian Felzmann and Martin Lux. The fog thinned out on Saturday and the wind rose to 6 to 10 knots, enabling magnificent sailing. Three races were completed on the first day. Sunday was marked by prevailing winds from the west and south. Finally, a southerly allowed two more races. The Union Yacht Club Attersee is the largest Austrian sailing club, one of the oldest at nearly 130 years and has over 950 members. Numerous regattas are held every year, including regular major events such as World, European and National Championships. |
