| The SSA Spring was defined by light but
consistent air. The fleet often inverted and
much of the regatta was determined by smart
downwind tactics. The day started off with a nice northerly with slight occilations with a slight advantage paying on the left due to current through the course. Tom Price first caught onto this and the fleet swiftly followed suit. The racing was tight and results varied inevitably coming down to the last race in which Bert Collins and Alan Campbell were tied. 7986 played the shifts well and with Bert having and extremely young crew but highly excitable addition to the star class, James Golden(12 years old), Alan was able to play the shifts correctly and came out on top. Much thanks to the SSA race committee and facility heads for hosting a fun regatta and great tune up for the season. I am sure James will use his 2nd place flask trophy for many years to come. |
