| Report by Christa Lux: District championship won by Austria! Sailing air temperature was 5 ° C. The snow on the mountains around Lake Attersee was visible, providing rain and shifty winds. Few are able to meet these requirements. Nineteen boats from six countries sailed for the title of district champion of the 17th district of the Star boat class. At the event, which went for three days, were at Pentecost sailed two races and on Pentecost Sunday three races were sailed. On Whit Monday, because of weak and very shifty wind, no racing occurred. Christian Nehammer from the home club Union Yacht Club Attersee and his bowman Florian Urban from UYC Traunsee won three of five races, and in the other races had second and third places. They were clearly the best and won with a seven-point lead on Vasyl Gureyev and Oleg Tsypko (Ukraine). In third place were the Germans Hopf / Hopf, followed by the Russians Zhivotovskiy / Shnyr and then the Americans Sternberg / MacIntosh. The other Austrians were in sixth place, Josef and Nikolaus Urban (both UYC Traunsee), and in seventh were Thomas Stelzl (UYCAs) / Johannes Eder (SC Mattsee). |
