2016 Bayview One-Design/Rolland Vortriede Memorial

The 2016 Rollie Vortriede Memorial Trophy was sailed in conjunction with the Bayview One Design Regatta this past Saturday and Sunday. Conditions Saturday saw winds of 6-10 knots with light Lake St. Clair chop. Sunday brought a whole new set of conditions with a 14-18+ knot breeze and waves suitable for downwind surfing. Congratulation go to Terry Gibney and Mike Lorenz for claiming the trophy. Mike Phinney and Alex Baker finished an incredibly close, you can't get any closer than tied, second place. The podium was rounded out by George Macon and Martin Sails. The Rollie Vortriede Memorial Trophy is awarded in honor of Rollie Vortriede, the driving force behind the Detroit River fleet for many years. His presence on the race course is truly missed by one and all.
