| Marshall Brown Regatta, report by John Chiaarella: June 6 & 7: The Marshall Brown Regatta was hosted by the Boston Harbor Fleet at Cottage Park Yacht Club Winthrop, Mass. Eight boats competed with two days of ideal conditions. Racing was very close as two boats tied for first and three boats tied for third. The winner was Ken Woods from CPYC. We all remembered Marshall and how much he meant to the Star Class and had hoped that his widow Diane would be able to attend. On Saturday evening all were invited to the Nahant Dory Club for cocktails and a cookout. What a tremendous tribute to the Star Class. Nahant “Bugs” were predecessors to the Star. Many notable sailors were in attendance including World Champion and boat builder Joe Duplin. Joe was given the honor of cutting the 100TH Year STAR CAKE. Joe Zambella was responsible for organizing the event and I was asked to present a Star Class flag to the Nahant Dory Club from the Boston Harbor Fleet. |
