| Report by Lou Roberts: Milford Yacht Club, COnnecticut, was host to the 71st Arms White Regatta for 14 participating Star boats hailing from Maine to Maryland over the June 15-16 weekend. Three races were started on Saturday under beautiful 8-10 knots conditions by a capable Race Committee under the supervision of PRO Alan Pritchard. A fourth and final race was held on Sunday when an Easterly breeze finally filled in after a two hour delay, which eventually became a Westerly breeze creating a very challenging day on the water. Because of the four-race throw-out rule, the three leaders were able to maintain their positions after day one. Skipper Peter Cusick was awarded the John Taylor Arms Trophy and Crew Drew Plominski the Elwood S. White trophy for First Place. Second Place went to Keith Donald and Kevin Elterman. Bear Hovey and Bud Converse took Third Place. The Grand Master’s Trophy was awarded to Bill Watson and the Master’s Trophy went to Ken Woods. Regatta Chairman Kevin Elterman and Mid CT Fleet Captain Lou Roberts thanked the participants and the many volunteers for another successful Arms White event. |
