Comments: 2003 Star Spring Championship Clinic Pot Pourrie Regatta >>>>>>>> Held On Gull Lake, Michigan <<<<<<<< May 10 & 11, 2003 Special Guests: Mark Reynolds Joe Londrigan Paw Paw Lake Star Fleet is pleased to announce it will hold their annual regatta at Gull Lake, MI in the form of a clinic. Olympian Gold Medallist and Gold Star winner Mark Reynolds will review each entrants boat setup on land on Saturday and then follow the races in a coach boat giving instructions to all entrants to improve their performance, Saturday and Sunday. At the end of each day's races, Mark will show the video of the races, remarking on trim in a “Chalk Talk”. Gold Star winner Joe Londrigan will explain the tactics of the race course, why he choose the end or middle of the line to start each race giving participants an idea of the inland lake winds and racing. It all begins with breakfast and registration at 7:00 AM at the Gull Lake Country and Yacht Club Saturday morning. Boats will launch as Mark completes his review of the boat's setup. Racing will begin at 11:45 AM and as many races will be sailed as possible. Sailors will assemble in the “Grille Room” of the Country Club across the street for a Chalk Talk at 5:30PM Saturday. Sunday will have racing start at 9:30 AM and the Chalk Talk and trophies take place at the “Grille Room” at 1:30 PM to allow the day's review on land. Trophies will be awarded through 5 places. Both the Paw Paw Lake and Gull Lake Star Fleets are contributing substantially to the cost of this clinic which allows the entry fee to be just $45 which includes breakfast, coaching, race management and trophies. Tickets for box lunches for both days, and Saturday nights barbecue dinner at the Grille Room will be available for purchase at registration. This event will be a great opportunity for Star sailors to clear the winter blues and get up to speed for the Spring Championship. See the Notice of Race at www.gulllakestarfleet.org.
