2008 Campionato XIV Distretto - Trofeo Sergio Santella

Sailed at Club Nautico Marina di Carrara, Italy.

The District Championship at Marina di Carrara ended after only two days of racing. Three races on Friday and three on Saturday. Twenty-eight Stars took part, lacking only a couple of names so that all the best sailors might be there.

Diego Negri and Luigi Viale won and took home the trophy, being in grand form and also the team that, two weeks earlier, won the Trofeo Benetti at Viareggio. They will soon be going to the Olympics – next Monday they leave for China.

Waves and little wind characterized the six races making the regatta very difficult, more or less the conditions that Diego and Luigi will find in the Olympic venue, only with the waves being shorter. Great training for them.
