| Fall weather at its best! Racing on Saturday was postponed until 3:15 due to sustained winds of 24-34 mph. Rob Maine and Kevin Murphy showed all of us what river sailing was all about, as we sailed 3 triangles with a windward finish with winds from 8-14 mph. Dinner, crab imperial and tenderloin, got our energy back after our little workout. Sunday 2 races were scheduled at 9:30 am. 18 boats headed out to the Choptank in 6-12 mph winds. Those quickly died as we sailed Course 4 in light patchy breezes. MacCausland, Lippincott, Oldak and Collins found some breeze out of the northwest and pulled an end round on the fleet putting MacCausland in 1st for the race and 1st overall. Rob Maine held on to 6th place in the race for a 2nd overall in the series. Bert Collins came from behind to score a 2nd in the race securing him 3rd for the series. Roger Pickall was the novice winner and Joe Balderson was the Classic yacht winner. Many thanks to Richard Lippincott and family and friends for a great job on the committee. And many thanks also to the Tred Avon Yacht Club and staff for their always welcoming hospitality. |
