2005 Bodenseemeisterschaft

The race committee of Hans Wittich of the Seglervereinigung Bottighofen seem to have the wind machines of the Bodensee in their grasp. For the second time within three years 6 races were completed; on Saturday with an east wind of 2-4 Bft and a nearly sea-like wave, and on Sunday with a west wind of 2-3 Bft.

Thus the Swiss star Grand Prix is successfully launched for 2005. Due to a lack of title sponsors, the series this year is in somewhat reduced form. Prize money for the first 8 of the Schlussklassementes is applied by local sponsors and sponsors. We will continue to provide further information on the Star Grand Prix 2005 as it develops. Website

Last year's overall Grand Prix champion Hubert Merkelbach (Ueberlingen) sailing with Olivier Vitzthum won this first event, with Rotermund/Fendt in 2nd and Herrmann/Wenk in 3rd. The best Swiss boat was Kurt Scheidegger/Duri Trechsel in 4th, and Gautschi/Freuis BYC were 5th. Unfortunately the number of competitors at 14 was rather weak, as it seems that the sailing season has not yet begun on Zurich lake ....
