English Bay Kitsilano Invitational

The Kitsilano Invitational Regatta, KYC's summer multi-class regatta, was held at the same time as Vancouver's Sea Festival and English Bay was a busy place complete with tall ships from around the world. On Saturday, we raced two races in an easterly, with north east shifts, making the left the place to be. The next race was in an elusive northerly and failed to make the time limit so it did not count. The 3rd race of the day took place in an 8 knot westerly. The barbeque of salmon and chicken back at the club was outstanding as it is every year. On Sunday, the westerly was the wind of the day complete with sunshine. The bay was extremely choppy from all the pleasure boat traffic, but there was some great racing in 8-10 knots. Foss Miller and Greg Newhall won the regatta and the F.R. Steele trophy.
