English Bay Labour Day Regatta

Eleven Stars from the three fleets of English Bay, Puget Sound and Vancouver Island sailed in the Labour Day Regatta. Saturday brought very shifty south east winds of 8-12 knots with puffs to 15 under partly cloudy skies. As the wind veered south, the right was the side to favour, but being in the pressure and lifts allowed for some radical passing lanes. On Sunday a more traditional easterly with rain and smaller shifts favoured the left. As the wind died Bob Britten and Justin Chant came from deep in the fleet at the last windward mark with a brilliant gybe inside the fleet to place second in the last race and win the C.P. Leckie Trophy by 1 point. The sun came out for the prize giving and drinks on the deck after racing.
