2010 Columbus Day Regatta

October 9 - 10, 2010

DISTRICT: 1

HOST

Report by Witold Gesing:

We had ideal racing conditions both Saturday and Sunday on Long Island Sound, off Larchmont, with north winds of 15-20 knots on Saturday and west winds of 12-18 knots on Sunday, warm air and water and sunny skies both days.

The attendance in all classes was disappointing (too much baseball on TV?) with only 8 Etchells, 2 IOD’s, 5 Shields, 5 S-Boats and 4 Stars racing. The 24 boats in all 5 classes made a large enough group that one did not feel lonely on the water. The quality of racing was very good, with 4 good races completed on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.

The regatta will be held this year on October 9 and 10 and will give you an opportunity to sail on the same race course and with the same race committee as is likely to run the next year's Star Centennial Regatta.

If you are looking for accommodations, Larchmont Yacht Club (914-834 2440 begin_of_the_skype_highlightingξξξξξξξξξξξξξξ914-834 2440ξξξξξξend_of_the_skype_highlighting) has a limited number of very nice guest rooms available or please contact me if you would like to be billeted.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
