Like last year, The Carinthia Cup was won by Roberto
Tomasini Grinover with
his foredeck Gunnar Bahr, and he again took the
Carinthian
National champion title. However, that the race was very
tight,
with Heimo and Hermione Schlagbauer finishing with equal
points. Sailing to an excellent third place was veteran
Harry Hoeferer with Wolf Klammerth on the foredeck.
The race was marked by a slight but steady east wind. Race Officer Peter Steinkogler took advantage of the stable thermal conditions for the four races without a delay at Samstasg. Promptly at 13 clock was the first start. No sooner had the last of the 16 participating Stars finished between first and last there were no more than two minutes - and Steinkogler had the preparatory signal for the next race. At about 18 clock there were clear winners and the comfortable part of the evening began. For beer, spicy chili con carne and cold buffet, all in more than sufficient quantity, ended the Carinthia Cup 2011 at a late hour.
