The Bernina Cup was held in Steckborn with 3 races sailed. Hans Stoeckli / Spahr Urs won the event before Juerg Ryffel / Alex Gouda and Christoph Gautschi / Tina Gautschi. At the start were 15 boats from Switzerland and Germany.
15 teams from Switzerland and Germany traveled to the Bernina Cup. Besides the Star boats there were 8 dragons and 6 Ynglings at the start. With beautiful weather and a slight east wind unfortunately only 3 races were held. Starting and finishing at the very same place, the race director Stephan Ammann had no way to start each class again, and so the Stars had to constantly wait over half an hour on the last of Ynglings.
As usual, the launching of a new Star boat was celebrated with champagne for the new “Fram” of Christoph Gautschi.
On the first day of the regatta, a first start came after a short postponement, although many of the boats were not close. The race was something inexplicably canceled at the 2nd marks and restarted. The team Hans Stoeckli / Spahr Urs led the field but did not notice that the finish was the same as the start and thus had an unusual final 300 m. So the follower could, without turning, go directly to the finish. Winning were Juerg Ryffel / Alex Gouda before J
