Fourteen Stars competed on April 18-19 in the Bodensee Championship with a race committee of five boats and 15 persons on the water. Thanks to a stable Bisenlage we could start on Saturday at noon. The wind conditions were ideal at 3 - 4 Bft. At the same time the Sport Boat Cup was being run, so we set our course between Bottighofen and Maensterlingen. The first two races were sailed on the original course settings. The starting and finishing lines with drifting buoys have proved very successful. Because the wind tended to the left, the course was reset for the 3rd race. Due to a dying wind and low air temperature, we returned to shore after that race. Winner of the day was SUI 8476 with Juerg Ryffel / Alex Gouda. With a cozy common dinner and get-together the beautiful day ended.
On Sunday we again had the same good wind conditions and we were able to start on time at 10:00. Unfortunately, the Bise wind left at the end of the fifth race. After studying the situation, we decided against a sixth race. The overall winner was the SUI 8476 with Juerg Ryffel / Alex Gouda, with a remarkable score of 6 in five races.
The Star Lake Constance Championship 2015 was a great success; the sailing conditions were ideal, the sailors behaved very fairly. Hans Wittich, who had run the event for many years, deservedly resigned the responsibility at the end of 2014. With him gone, many helpers of his proven team also resigned. The new team worked extremely well; They all deserve my deepest thanks. We will be happy to welcome, again in 2016, the Star sailors in Bottighofen and hope for at least 15 boats. With fewer Stars the cost of the event is not supported.
