Report by Rune Schytt-Nielsen:On the 4-6th September the Danish Starfleet and TBL arranged open Danish Championship “Henry Rasmussen Memorial Trophy”. The Weather forecast indicated lots of pressure for the races. Unfortunately that promise was more than fulfilled.

Friday we had a perfect race day.

1st. Race: 11 boats on the line. Frank Berg, Hellerup Sailing Club, with crew Martin Hjelsberg, showed that boat speed and handling was to win 1st race. Great performance in their first race together. And Frank last sailed a Star about 20 years ago. 2nd waere Flemming and Niels with 3rd place being Arnd Glunde of Germany with Allart from Estonia.

2nd Race.

Won by Flemming and Niels. 2nd. were Arnd Glunde and Allart. Rune and Henrik were 3rd.

3rd Race. Again Flemming and Niels winning. 2nd to Rune and Henrik and 3rd. were Helge Spehr and and Andreas Kaerger.

Friday races sailed in good conditions 10-16 knots in pretty stable wind direction. All the races had 2 upwind legs and finished downwind. Perfect start lines and professional performance from our course crew. Unfortunately these races were the last. Due to windy conditions Saturday and Sunday it was impossible to race more. The boats where called out to the water twice on Saturday but both times we returned to the pier without racing. 43 knots wind was measured on the committee boat.

Winner of Open Danish Championship 2015 is:

1. Flemming Soerensen/ Niels Trysoe Hansen. 2,1,1. TBL

2. Rune Schytt/ Henrik Ahrentsen. 5,3,2. TBL

3. Arnd Glunde/ Allart. 3,2,5. NRV

Evening arrangements on shore were planned by TBL club members in our cozy clubhouse. Saturday our sponsor event blew away, so to speak. Sydbank, our main sponsor had 45 guests on the old sloop “Fylla”. The guests had a tour on our waters to get an impression about what it is to sail the Star. All in all it was the best possible compromise in the given conditions.

Saturday late afternoon all sailors with family took a water trip with “Helge”. Our own world famous island ferry. It’s always an impressive tour. And nice with cover from wind and water from above.

Sunday morning. Races cancelled due to lots of pressure. Price giving ceremony at 10.00 o clock and everyone could leave early.

Henry Rasmussen Momorial Thropy was founded 2014. This event will be held every year first weekend September. We look forward to 2016 and we expect many crews to participate in order to learn about our waters and prepare for Worlds 2017. Many crews have already booked hotel and other accommodation for HRMT 2016 & 2017.

During the event from September 3 to September 6, Troense Badelaug can offer a special Star Championship rate on our local hotel, Hotel Troense, which is placed beautifully just on top of the harbor. To take advantage of this special rate, reservations need to be made before August 7.

Last year 27 Star boats took part in the 13th District Championship at Troense. At that event we presented the "Henry Rasmussen Memorial Trophy" and announced that a new Star event was born.

It is our clear goal to repeat last year's success and make the first weekend of September an another unforgettable Star sailor event where friends and families join on our beautiful island to enjoy sailing and socializing.

Seven races are scheduled and will be sailed on one of the best race courses in Denmark, just south of our nice little harbor in the well-protected bay, open enough to ensure free and fresh wind under all wind directions.

Again this year our club will plan a social program that will ensure that the cozy atmosphere will be the baseline for all onshore activities.
