Spring Trophy, which takes place on Lake Baldeney in Essen, is the first star regatta in Germany every year.

This year, ten competitors have been fighting for the prestigious and coveted trophy which is shaped like a star boat rudder blade.

On Saturday, the teams had perfect weather conditions without any clouds, but bright sunshine and 8 to 12 knots of breeze. Unfortunately, the breeze died after the first race, so there was no chance to have a second one. Tusch / Winkelmann from Moehnesee were the winners of that race.

In the evening, the restaurant of Yachtclub Ruhrland Essen was providing a delightful dinner and afterwards, the sailors went to the downtown area of Essen for an amusing and cheerful night.

Sunday was a rainy day with less wind than on Saturday morning. The locals were best at handling the tricky conditions which light winds generate on Lake Baldeney.

After two further races Jahrmarkt / Klein won the Regatta in front of Hannemann / Hannemann in second and Tusch / Winkelmann in third place.
