Melleby and Hejlsberg win Henry Rasmussen Memorial Cup - Sørensen and Thrysøe take the Danish Championship victory in Starbåd.

The local Troense team Flemming Sørensen and Niels Thrysøe won this weekend's DM in Starboat. They were fantastically close to outsmarting the favorite from Norway for the Henry Rasmussen trophy. Eivind Melleby and Martin Hejlsberg could with 1 point in the magic, lift the fine trophy as winner of the Henry Rasmussen Memorial Cup.

Danish Championship

With a superb final to the Sunday's four races, Flemming Sørensen and Niels Thrysøe became Danish Champion 2020. They have Had been a bit of a headwind since last Friday, when they started first race with an OCS. They could withstand this pressure and finished the 4 races sailed on Sunday with a 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 and can thus call themselves Danish champion in the Starboat Class.

In the next places came Jørgen Schönherr and Jan Eli -from Køge and Arnd Glunde and Ole Burzinski - Flensburg, and there was a tough battle for the other places among the 24 boats from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany.

Strong breeze

The weekend's sailings were sailed on Lunkebugten in the waters between Thurø, Tåsinge and Langeland. It was race officer Thomas Jørgensen who kept track of the troops on the water, and completed eight races. The sailing was characterized by strong breeze and nice sunshine. On Saturday, only 1 sailing was sailed in the strong wind. Many of the participants had a breakdown, so the judge chose to postpone with the hope that the wind would abate.

Just as the event was a great success on the water, so it was also a great success on land. Despite the challenges with COVID-19, the people behind Troense Bådelaug were able to secure dining at a distance at the harbor in a large tent. There was great satisfaction among all the participants for this amazing event and several expressed that they would return next year.
