Star Class Honoring the Past, Leading the Future
The Star Class Darke de Mattos Race (official LOG event) at it`s 76th edition.
The traditional Star Race starts in front of Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro - ICRJ, goes to open seas and round 2 marks at the famous Copacabana Beach and way back. The finish line is between two lighthouses at the entrance of ICRJ where a crowd of club members can watch from the club’s veranda.
Darke de Mattos was one of the founders of ICRJ and grandfather of Star Class Life Member Jorge Bhering de Mattos.
2020 we had 21 Stars entries, considering 3 Gold Stars (Torben Grael; Alan Adler; Lars Grael) and 3 Silver Stars (Peter Eduardo Siemsen; Alessandro Pascolato; Augusto Barrozo) and top level crew with World and Continental titles.
6 out of the 21 Stars, were from the “Black Star” division (hull number under 7300). The Runner-Up was a 7022 Mader from 1984.
