Rasta Star Fleet October Cup, September 24-25 Saltsjöbaden

Although it is late in the season by Swedish measures, 20 boats showed up for the October Cup. One of them being Gold Star Eyvind Melleby, sailing the old wooden Star Mari.
To promote the Star class locally as well as welcoming Star Sailors from out of town unable to bring their own boats, Rasta Star Fleet Captain Leif Carlsson has 4 boats for charter available. All of these on the bay this weekend.

Unfortunately the wind gods were not with us, but having an Olympic Gold medalist in Jörgen Sundelin as Race Chairman, we were recommended to stay on land instead of drifting along in the calm. This made us able to show our social skills for two days, chatting and having coffee before the wind finally arrived.

Saling into the harbor late Saturday afternoon after the races, we were greeted by Champagne bottles popping and beautiful singing by an opera singer. It was the Christening of a brand new 45 foot carbon fibre yacht launched on the Sune Carlsson yard. After this warm welcome The October party with beer and bratwurst had commenced! A truly good evening.

Sunday afternoon we had a winner in Jonas Wibom and Fredrik Liljegren followed by Björn Palmqvist och Peter Hauff, and in third place Erik Dahlén and David Nogén.
Not many races this weekend due to lack of wind, but still a regatta and lot ́s of fun around it!! Thomas Gross Secretary Rasta Fleet
