A magic regatta; bright sun and perfect wind!
For the 90th time the Swedish Star Sailors gathered to race for the Swedish Championship medals; this time in Karlshamn on the Swedish south coast.
Tune up
The Tune up races were held in the center of Karlshamn with spectators and a speaker on land.
The winner of the Tune up were HP Hylander and Anders Nilsson. Big shifts and gusty conditions made it exciting with tight roundings…
The Tune up ended with some drama when two boats collided after finishing causing one of the to head for land, not to sink. All sailors OK. The arranging club KSS managed to get a crane in place to lift the damaged boat before more drama occurred.
SM day 1 Friday
Three races planned and three races were held, in gradually increasing winds at sea outside Karlshamn.
The first race was won by Thomas Gross & Thomas Karlsson before Stefan Nordström and Joakim Dovrén. The second and third races saw veteran legend Tom Lofstedt and Fredrik Aurell winning with Stefan Nordström and Joakim Dovrén in second. GKSS. We already had two favourites to the 2022 90th SM title in Starboat.
SM day 2 Saturday
Light breeze in the morning gradually increasing all day. Former Champion Erik Dahlén & David Nogén won the first race before Stefan & Joakim made the winning battle exciting by winning the two last races of the day. When the day was over after six races in total they were in the lead by one point before the last race.
SM day 3 Sunday
Rain, rain rain and a dead calm sea made the result from Friday and Saturday final. We had a winner in Stefan Nordström and Joakim Dovren, on point ahead of Tom Lofstedt and Fredrik Aurell. The fight for bronce was won by Eric Dahlén and David Nogen two points ahead of Thomas Gross and Thomas Karlsson. Winner of Fair Play Trophy (the knotted gun) was Anders Högland! Three Swedish made C-stars top three, makes the Carlssons happy!
