This past weekend eight boats descended on Seneca Lake to sail The New York
State Championships. On Saturday the breeze was west at around 13 to 16 mph
at the start of race one and the wind was around that at the start of the 2nd race. That changed on the 2nd run to plus 20. For the most part we all survived but there was a seriously bent mast so we put the fleet back on the trailers for the day.
Now the tradition at Seneca is we have a Ribeye Steak dinner, and this year lived up to that tradition. So what we do is take an entire ribeye and carve off individual steaks and hand them to the sailors to cook their own over a charcoal grill fire. This way if their steak is not cooked properly they only have themselves to blame. Everyone said it was the best steak they have ever had!
On Sunday the wind lightened up and we had 3 very nice races.
A big thank you to the White and Burgess family, and of course Werner Holtze for assuming the role of PRO with help from Dave Murry,Will Phipps and Tom White. .
