Star Class Honoring the Past, Leading the Future
Since the late 1970s, Star sailors have come to California Yacht Club for the chance to have their names added to the King of Spain trophy, the sterling silver Spanich Galleon that was presented to CYC by the King of Spain in 1928. Past winners are a virtual who's who in sailing, counting World Champions and Olympic medalists among the ranks. Eric Doyle and Payson Infelise prevailed in challenging 6-12 knot conditions with the signature Maine del Rey chop. Sunday saw a short delay for fog as a result 5 of a total of 6 planned races were sailed. The winning Green Star skipper was Keith Dodson and winning Green Star crew was Thomas Sylvestri.
