Star Class Honoring the Past, Leading the Future
Dear friends of Vintage Starboats,
The goal of “20 boats in ´20” may be hard to achieve due to the pandemic, but the interest by Starboat sailors from many countries in Europe continues to be very strong. The organisation committee has set up a flexible plan for August 13 -16 during the annual Od Fashion Race at Zürcher Yacht Club, and is in good spirits that the 3rd edition of the Vintage Starboat Race in Zurich can become a highlight of this special year. Race president Sascha Osterwalder: “All of us here know that the situation evolves continuously and are prepared for short term changes in the organisation”.
With the engagement of many local helpers and sponsors, as well as the support of Oldtimer Boot Club Zürichsee, the Swiss Star fleets and the International Starboat Class, the programme could even be extended to 4 days. This can make t the event more attractive for sailors from other regions and for the strong, local fleet alike.
Eligible to participate are all Starboats built from wood according to ISCYRA class rules. Depending on the number of participants, competition will be in two classes: Vintage Classic (wooden rig, traditional) and Vinatge Performance (aluminium rig, modernised). The friendly event is also very suited for new entrants into this special classic race boat.
For the support of the organisation committee, all interested sailors are asked to register soon via manage2sail.com. In this year, registration is non-binding. For accommodation, it is recommended to book early via the usual platforms, with cancellation option.
