Class Update
Two Continental champions were crowned during August. At Varberg, Sweden, Iain Percy and Steven Mitchell won the 2005 European Championship. In Marina del Rey, California, George Szabo and Eric Monroe became the 2005 North American Champions.

Hurricane Katrina devasted many yacht clubs of the US East Coast, including Southern Yacht Club, the host club of the 2004 Western Hemisphere Championship. President Bill Allen expresses concern and sympathies for all Star sailors.

Star boat builder and North American Champion Howard Lippincott died at 85 years and Edersee Fleet Captain Uli Seidlitz was fatally injured in a bicycle accident.

Recent Results
National Championships: In the Czech Republic,
Jiri Maier and Zbynek Zanker won the Open Czech Championship, in Austria, Dietmar Gfreiner/Martin Fussi won the Austrian Championship, and in Sweden, Fredrik Ljungkvist and Daniel Alm became the Swedish Open International Champions.

Two Masters' championships were raced in August. In the USA, Joe Bainton and Will Christensen won the New England Masters. In Austria, Walter Passegger and Udo Fritsch won the Masters 2005 (100 jahrige).

In Germany, Michael Ilgenstein and Felix Simmendinger were the winners of the Bahnwaerter - Preis, Harald Boehler/Heiner Frowein won the Zeller Starboote Cup, Philipp Rotermund/Tom Huber won the Glücksburger Star Cup, and Michael Hein /Bernd Bruening won the Herbst-Verbandsregatta.

In Switzerland, Philipp Rotermund/Uli Seeberger took top place in the Herbstpreis Brunnen, while Daniel and Beat Stegmeier won the Trophee du Leman. In the Netherlands, Albert Ekels/Wieke Avis won the Open Loosdrecht Event and Uwe Hannemann/Jochen Borbet won the Hollandia Trophy.

In the USA, Andy Horton and Brad NIchol won the Lake Sunapee Open, Chris and Mickey Nielson are District 4's Green Star Champions, and Peter Cusick and Serge Leonada won the 2005 Ned Hay. In Canada, Bob Britten/Justin Chant won the English Bay Labour Day regatta.
