Notice to Builders - 8553

This memo references Lillia's current 2020 production Star 8553 and subsequent builds.
The initial request for approval of the Hull design was presented to the Technical Advisory Board in January of 2019 and approved.
After the Hull was approved, Lillia submitted a deck design which included a deck stepped mast.
The Technical Advisory Board made a request for a positive “B” measurement which was accomplished with a recess in the deck. This feature allowed for a Provisional measurement certificate.
Lillia provided the Technical Advisory Board information necessary to establish that the Class would issue an Official Provisional Certificate following a full measurement.
On 9 and 10 of January 2020, Star 8553 was fully measured by Co-Chief Measurers Guido Sodano and Peter Mockl and Measurer Roberto Ravaglia at Lillia's facility.
As of 25 January 2020, 8553 met all the requirements for the Provisional Certificate.
After additional review, the TAB and CMC determined that a Deck stepped mast was permissible under Star Class rules.
On 12 October 2020, on the recommendation of the Technical Advisory Board, a permanent measurement certificate was granted to the owner of 8553 by the Class Management Committee under the Notice to builders, New Construction Methods and Materials - part 6.
Other builders, please note that if a builder changes his construction, he is required to submit the concerned drawings or samples to the TAB for approval. After the License is granted no changes may be made to the hull, deck or keel shape without the licensee submitting a change order to the ISCYRA for approval. No change can be made without approval from the ISCYRA.
