A very busy weekend for Star sailing both in Europe, North and South America. Three big regatta took place in all of the three continents, plus a fun Coupe des Amis in Grandson, Switzerland, won by Jean-Pascal Chatagny with Serge Pulfer (SUI), closely followed by SSL founder Michel Niklaus sailing with super crew Frithjof Kleen (GER).
Eight races were sailed for the Swedish Championship 2018 on Lake of Baggen, north of Stockholm. Johan Qviberg and Michael Nettelbladt are the 2018 Star Swedish Champions, followed by Tom Löfsted with Joost Houweling (NED) and in third place Calle Shröder with Henrik Glimstedt.
35 teams came to race at the Swedish Championship mostly from Sweden and Northern Europe, and there were many young guys like Paul Cayard’s son, Daniel. The event was big as it also marked the beginning of the production of the P-Star by Leif Carlsson who also opened a SSL Training Center right here. A SSL Grand Slam is planed in these water in 2020.
31st SEMANA INTERNACIONAL DE VELA DO RIO DE JANEIRO
The 32st Semana Internacional del Vela do Rio De Janeiro was successful as usual, the great organization of IATE CLUBE DO RIO DEI JANEIRO granted six beautiful races with technical conditions. The leader of the week were Brazialian Star heroes heroes Lars Grael and Samuel Gonçalves, followed bu Marcelo Fuchs with Ronal Seifert and in third Marcelo Bellotti with Mauricio Bueno.
DISTRICT 4 CHAMPIONSHIP
Beautiful Paw Paw Lake, in Coloma MI, close to much bigger Lake Michigan, was the set up for the 2018 District 4 Championship. Seven races were sailed by the 12 teams who attended it, and Gregory Smith with TC Belco got the win of the 2018 Blue Star Trophy. Ross and Dorothy Adams followed in second place and Gene and Glenn McCarthy in third.
