Star Class Honoring the Past, Leading the Future
The Star Class is sad to announce the passing of Andy Macdonald last week. Andy was on the Judiciary Board of the Star Class from 2015-2019 serving as Chair the past few years. In addition, Andy was the 2017 Eastern Hemisphere Champion, 2007 District 5 Champion, 2008 King of Spain winner, 2007 & 2008 Lipton Cup champion, 2016 Rollins Bowl winner. Andy Macdonald passed away unexpectedly December 1st, 2021 at the age of 72. Andy was a rare example of having a successful career practicing law while maintaining the ability to compete at a high level. He had a long and successful sailing career including the America’s Cup, first-to-finish in the Transpac, Bermuda, and Fastnet, as well as a Silver Star among his many accomplishments. Andy was a fierce and fair competitor, while his sailing skill was displayed on the water, friendship and graciousness off the water epitomized his life. Brad Nichol
