Sune sailed away on his last journey the 2 of July very peacefully, surrounded by his family.
After many sea miles hanging over the side of the Star boat since I was very young, you could tell he was a unique helmsman with gift for steering a boat, and not just Stars.
He did not spend too much time trimming, he just jumped in the boat and sailed away, often with success.
Tell tales and other fancy trimming gear he saw more like it disturbed the good look of the sails, and he surprised me many times when he rejected new sails just 10 minutes after hoisting.
Sune started sailing the Star in 1948 as a crew, building his own first boat 3342 in 1954. After successfully campaiging that boat for many years, he began to build boats for customers in 1959.
In our family we were brought up with Star boats from morning to evening, as Stars were in Sune's veins. When I was sailing a Dragon for 8 years, I used to bring it out on the boatyard doing some trimming on land, and Sune promptly brought out 2 Star boats and placed them on each side of the Dragon to make a mark that on this yard it is Star boats we sail.
In the last 40 years, Sune called 1-2 times a day checking the progress on the new boats, asking if there were any new idees to implement; when is the delivery date; and to give his regards to anyone who might in the shop he knew, so life now feels a little empty.
We have so many memories to live on and we still are in the Star building business with the Class a fantastic community and that helps us toward the future.
From the family we would like to express our gratitude for the overwhelming condolences we have gotten from all over the world.
As Larry Whipple said, "Sune had a life well lived!"
