Star Class Honoring the Past, Leading the Future
The curtain has fallen on the 65th Nice Christmas Regatta, ISCYRA Historical event. This year the weather conditions were really perfect with wind and sun. This allowed us to race 8 races in a stable northerly wind with 10 to 12 knots every morning, decreasing to 8 knots at the end of the morning. Abd followed by a BBQ on the sunny terrace of the Club Nautique de Nice. This year the abundance of morning wind gave the star sailors free afternoons to visit the French Riviera which is always appreciated by the participants and their families. On the regatta side, the two Olympian teams were often in battle and it was the Austrian Hans Spitzauer and Christian Nehammer who flew over the event with a bullet !!!, 8 races 7 victories allowing them to join the crane during the last race ! Kudos to them!!! The second in the classification the Greeks Papathanasiou and Noutsous also left no possibility of being joined. The podium is completed by another very experienced Austrian team with Franz Kloiber and his teammate Marc Fischer. The 66th Xmas regatta will be organized from December 27 to 30th 2023 and will be a good opportunity for those who wish to leave their star on the French coast after the European Championship which will take place 20 km away in Cannes at the end of October.
