| | Announcements This Article Last Updated: Oct 14th, 2010 - 15:13:49 It has come to our attention that there is a problem with the Star Class Ballot, which is currently available on this website and has been mailed to members.
The wording of Resolution #5 is incorrect. It is almost identical to the wording of #4, concerning World’s Championship format. This is not correct.
Since the text for #5 is incorrect, we will invalidate the voting on that resolution ONLY.
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR VOTE ON THE OTHER RESOLUTIONS AND THE CLASS OFFICERS. If you have already voted, we will simply ignore the vote on #5. Again, we suggest that you vote YES on numbers 4, 11, and 15, for reasons in our prior message.
The correct Resolution #5, as passed at the annual meeting in Argentina last February, deals with format issues for Continental championships. Specifically, it should say that a minimum of six races are to be scheduled, and that more than 2 races per day may be sailed. It also allows for one reserve day, if stated in the NOR, but that 4 completed races will constitute a series. It is intended for small venues and small fleets, where course options described under resolution #11 may be desirable.
Fortunately, according to Star Class Rule 18.2.1, the International Governing Committee can suspend certain Star Class rules for a “test event,” for one year. Therefore, in the event that a regatta organizer for a 2006 Continental Championship would like to propose a format with shorter races as outlined in resolution 11, the IGC can approve this format, including more than 6 races total and more than 2 per day.
We will submit this resolution again for vote in 2006 (for 2007)
If you have any questions, please email the undersigned or the class office.
We apologize for this error.
Bill Allen, Class President
Rick Burgess
IGC Chairman
